A. Why shouldn't I use an inexpensive garbage bag and tape to cover traffic sign.

Garbage bags are meant for garbage and were never intended to cover traffic signage. Manufacturers of film sheeting will advise you that garbage bags will damage signage sheeting. Because the material and glues are unable to breathe properly, the sheeting has a tendency to lift. In most cases, manufacturers will not honour film warranties when their products have been covered with garbage bags and tape.

Workers often permanently damage signs when they struggle to cut or peel off the tape applied to the garbage bags.

B. Why shouldn't I use plywood sheets to cover traffic signs.

Plywood sheets hinged over signs damage the sign's edges and surface. A plywood sheet will fly off when receiving a frontal impact. In fact it literally becomes a flying guillotine.

C. Is your product approved?

Our product "is affirmed as currently meeting the requirements of recognized specifications or standards (such as AASHTO, ASSTM, CGSB, CSA, OPS, ULC, etc...)."

At this time, legislation and regulations governing sign covering is generally silent about what materials can be used to cover traffic signs. However, we are confident that over time, sign covers like ours will be as regulated and common place as traffic cones.

D. Why are the diamond-shaped sign covers made of a different material than your other products?

We chose a lighter gauge material for our square and rectangular-shaped sign covers because the wear and tear on a square sign does not require as strong a material as in the case of diamond-shaped sign. The material we chose for the square and rectangular product is also less expensive.

A. Do your covers fit all sizes of parking meters?

Our parking meter covers fit most of the world's parking meters. If we are not familiar with the model you use, we can provide you a sample to ensure that our product fits properly. We manufacture custom sizes as well.

B. Why do you make parking meter covers come in black and white?

Our customers told us that they would prefer to have messages made out of highly visible reflective sheeting on their parking meter covers rather than have differently coloured parking meters covers for different purposes. The most popular colours are black and white.

C. Are they vandal proof?

No product is vandal proof. However, you will find that our product is extremely strong. Laboratory tests show that the material we hold up to 4,000 lbs or approximately 2,000 kilograms.

D. Can your messages be any shape and size?

We can produce any shape and any size. However, we strongly recommend a six inch round-shaped message because it is properly proportioned to most parking meters, and because a round shape discourages people from trying to remove the film from the our product.

In the event that there is vandalism damage to your message (i.e. covered with spray paint), you can remove the old message with a little bit of heat and reapply a new message.

A. Do your product cover all types of pay and display machines.

There are many types of pay and display machines and they vary significantly in size and shape from manufacturer to manufacturer. This is why we custom make these products.

A. What kind of batteries are needed, and how long do the batteries last?

Our products use either AA or AAA batteries. A good quality alkaline battery will normally yield the best results and should provide you with 24 hours of continuous use. You should note that all batteries are affected by extreme temperature and weather conditions.

B. How far can you see the lights?

The size of the lamp and weather conditions affects visibility. Night-time tests performed under fair weather conditions show that our smallest light is visible at 1/2 mile or .8 kilometer, while our largest light is visible at 1.25 miles or 2 kilometers.

C. Can the magnetic Portable Signal Lite SL 182 be used for external use on a moving vehicle?

With the exception of low-speed electrically-powered wheelchairs, our magnetic-backed lights SL 182 Portable Signal Lite are not made for outdoor use on motor vehicles.Portable lites proprely secure with screws or straps may be used for outdoor use on motor vehicles.
