Flex-Vest™ Receives "Accepted for Use " Provincial Approval

OTTAWA-GATINEAU - Contour Tek Inc. located in the nation's capital, received the "accepted for use" classification from the Ontario Provincial Standards Group - Product Management Committee for its Flex-Vest™ Temporary Roadway Signage and Sign Covers product.

The provincial "Accepted for Use" classification provides a guideline for purchasers to confirm the ability of manufacturers and suppliers to provide products meeting required provincial, national, and international standards and specifications. The "Accepted for Use" classification is the highest classification level provided by the Ontario Provincial Standards Group - Product Management Committee.

Flex-Vest™ is the first foldable but durable product engineered to simultaneously cover, protect and alter roadway signage. Optional ultra-light single or two-sided signs slide easily into the product's transparent pocket. It requires no tools, weighs practically nothing, and is up in seconds. It eliminates the need to remove and install bulky and expensive temporary signs and signposts, and also reduces roadway clutter. The product is inexpensive and durable and is available in many sizes and mounting configurations for diamond, square, and rectangular-shaped signs.

Garbage bags and make-shift materials crudely taped to traffic signs easily fall off, and damage underlying signs. "Improved efficiency and esthetics is one of our goals", says Mr. Moricz, the company president. "But our biggest concern is that hundreds of people are unnecessarily involved in serious accidents because of poorly covered or inconsistent road signage". George Cancelmo, Vice-President of US Reflectors, a large distributor in the United States anticipates this product to be a standard sight on road construction projects.

The Ontario Provincial Standards organization is jointly owned by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and the Municipal Engineers Association. It's objective is to develop and improve the administration, safety and environmental aspects, and cost effectiveness of the design and construction of roads, structures, sewers, watermains and electrical services.

To realize this objective, the Ontario Provincial Standard organization through the Product Management Committee, develops and revises standards to ensure quality and accuracy, and maintains a comprehensive list of products, services, and technical solutions. This simplifies design and contract preparation procedures.
