Signing for Safety

Simple Technologies For Work Zone Safety Yield Big Results

Ottawa-Gatineau-Montreal: Traffic accidents kill more than one million people each year, injure tens of millions more, and cost developing countries twice as much as they receive in international aid, says Dr. Adnan Hyder of the Road Traffic Injury Research Network, an organization supported by the World Health Organization and the World Bank.

"A large number of traffic accidents in both developing and developed countries involve construction workers in work zones and can be easily prevented with very simple and inexpensive technologies" says Alexandre Moricz, President of Contour Tek Inc.

"It's fair to say that it's the simple and inexpensive products such as safety vests, barrier tape, and construction hats which have historically yielded the biggest results in terms of work zone safety. Unfortunately it's these types of products which encounter the greatest level of resistance before being universally accepted" says the president.

Contour Tek is an award-winning company which manufactures simple but innovative work zone safety and special event signage products. It obtained the highest "accepted for use" classification for its Flex-Vest™ temporary road signs and sign overlay products from the internationally renowned "The Road Authority" organization.

The company also distributes super-bright safety lights which mount easily to a hard hat, and a variety of portable lights to prevent or warn against roadside accidents. One product can be used in lieu of dangerous and expensive road safety flares.

"I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Le Mondial de l'entrepreneuriat in Ottawa. It will allow me to explore business opportunities across the world and across many commercial and industrial markets. All this without having to invest thousands of dollars. We think Le Mondial de l`entrepreneuriat will yield big results!
